Our work to improve childhood nutrition in Rhinebeck schools involves several initiatives.
Nourish Rhinebeck – Led by Chancellor Livingston Elementary School parent Kerri Karvetski, Nourish Rhinebeck focuses on raising awareness among parents and other stakeholders about childhood nutrition issues and covers news and trends on the national, regional and district levels. Our tools include:
- Nourish Rhinebeck website, blog and email list (blog contributors welcome – use our Contact form to pitch your childhood nutrition-related blog post ideas)
- Social media outreach and engagement (Facebook, Twitter)
- Community events such as movie screenings and panels
- We are also looking to publish a healthy snack guide in the fall
RCS School Committees
Nutrition Committee – The Nutrition Committee focuses on school-based projects and taste tests in the classrooms and the cafeteria.
Wellness Committee – The RCSD Wellness Committee focuses on nutrition education, physical activity, and other school-based activities that are designed to promote student wellness. Isabelle Burkhart and Terri Hall are the parent representatives on the Wellness Committee.
